I recently graduated from the Contemplative Education program at Naropa University.  It was a transformative experience that caused me to closely examine what I was bringing with me into the classroom each and every day. I’m not talking about the newest technology or creative lesson, I’m talking about the perceptions, projections, expectations and past experiences that cause me to respond to my students in certain ways. I’m talking about my state of mind that permeates through the classroom effortlessly.  In this blog I will openly and honestly share my experiences and understandings. As I use my awareness and insight to inform me, I intend to become an even better teacher; a teacher that courageously connects deeply with her students and cultivates the desire and skill to connect deeply within themselves. This is an account of my journey as a contemplative educator.
